What an SC2 coach actually does for you

A good SC2 coach watches your game and tells you what you got away with, what cost you the match, and the one or two things that would matter most if you fixed them by next ladder session. This tool does that automatically: it reads every event in your replay, runs the numbers, and writes back coaching notes in plain English.

Build order check

Compares what you actually built to known openers for your race and matchup, and flags the supply count where you fell off pace.

Economy review

Worker count, saturation, expansion timing, and how much money you sat on. The places where you bled minerals get called out specifically.

Battle breakdown

Every engagement, who reinforced first, supply lost on each side, and whether the trade was worth it. Bad battles are highlighted with what to do differently.

Honest assessment

If your micro saved a lost game or your decision-making lost a winning one, you'll hear about it. The coach isn't trying to be polite.

How to use the SC2 coach

Find your replay

StarCraft 2 saves replays to Documents/StarCraft II/Accounts/.../Multiplayer. Brood War works too — drop in a .rep file.

Drop it in

Drag the file onto the upload dropzone on the home page. The parser runs in your browser; nothing is shared until you choose to.

Read the coaching

The page loads with a full replay viewer, charts, and a coaching summary. The whole thing takes a few seconds.

What the coach actually reads

There's no magic. The model only sees what your replay contains: every unit built, every order issued, every kill, the map, the matchup, and a time-bucketed snapshot of supply, income, workers, and bank every 30 seconds. The coach interprets that data — it does not watch the game like a human caster.

What it can't do

  • It can't read your mind. If you intended a strategy and your replay shows something different, it'll judge what you actually did.
  • It's weakest on rare or unusual builds where there's no good baseline to compare against.
  • It analyzes one replay at a time. Patterns across many games — that's still you reading the trend yourself.

FAQ

Is the SC2 coach really free?
Yes. Upload as many replays as you want, no account required. Server costs are covered by an optional $2 tip.
Do I need StarCraft 2 installed?
No. The replay file is enough. The site renders the replay in your browser without the SC2 client.
Does it work for Brood War?
Yes — drop in a .rep file. Coaching for Brood War replays is more limited than SC2 because the format carries less event data, but the basics still come through.
How long does coaching take?
A few seconds. Parsing is the slow part; the coaching note appears after the page loads.
Is my replay private?
By default replays are public on the site so other players can learn from them. You can request removal — see the contact link in the footer.
